Partners in Love

In addition to the hotels and restaurants supporting the festival through many perks and special prices for sweethearts, “Strasbourg mon amour” is bringing together all the driving forces of the city (municipality, Urban Community, cultural institutions, media, business associations, private institutions, and more) and encouraging many initiatives. We thank them for their financial support and their involvement.

L’Opéra national du Rhin

L’Opéra national du Rhin owes its exemplary character to the specific role played by the three cities that support it: Strasbourg, Mulhouse and Colmar. An intermunicipal federation, l’Opéra national du Rhin is managed jointly by these three cities, and each of them has its own creative activity: the Opéra in Strasbourg; the Ballet de l’Opéra national du Rhin, a national choreography centre since 1985, in Mulhouse; and the Opéra Studio, a training space for young singers, in Colmar. Having existed for more than thirty years, the Alsatian experience has become a model. By staying fiercely attached to its regional and European roots, l’Opéra national du Rhin has established itself as one of the great institutions of French and international lyric life, and was rewarded in November of 1997 by being officially designated as an “Opéra national”.

“Love stories are like a train journey”, according to the slammer Grand Corps Malade. Trains and train stations are by nature places to meet, have an exchange, to be reunited. 9% of men and 5% of women say that they have fallen in love with someone they met while travelling the tracks. So it’s entirely normal for the SNCF to be part of “Strasbourg Mon Amour” in 2015.

In Ribeauvillé, in the centre of Alsace, between valleys and forests, the spring of Ribeauvillé was rediscovered in 1888 by Dr Staub, who decided to call it Carola, in tribute to his wife, Caroline. For over 125 years, Carola has been on Alsatian tables, in both homes and restaurants. It is an integral part of the region’s heritage.
